Matthew Marcum is an internationally recognized performance artist, producer, and educator. His work involves the cultivation and development of new and experimental live art. Working in an interdisciplinary context across a broad range of artistic mediums, he combines concept development with strategic planning and implementation to create theatre productions, gallery exhibitions, musical projects, culturally curated live events, and educational workshops. Marcum is a long standing producing artist for the nationally ranked Nashville Sideshow Fringe Festival and served as a core producer for the 2017 international performance showcase event, The New Experimental Works Festival. He is also the creative director of The Unconventional Empire, a self-generated platform for artistic collaboration and production.

Marcum holds a dual M.F.A. in Theatre Performance Making with an emphasis in Cultural Identity from the University of Chichester  (U.K) and The California Institute of Integral Studies (U.S) as wells as an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. His work engages in both individualized and collaborative processes that consistently explore new avenues for creative innovation.
